Ride | College Marta Station (Official version only) | Difficult |
The time and date above are only a suggestion. There is no set group ride for this event, please enjoy these routes at your leisure during or after the Virtual Festival!
2020 has been hard, so why not end it the same way with our Ultimate 2020 Ride!!!
This route, called Country Cents, is provided by John Christopher Matyjasik and it...is...a... DOOZY! This rambling century is 85% paved, 15% gravel, will take you all the way down south to Brooks GA, and is a ton of fun. Wanna learn more about it before you ride? Then check out this ride report on the route written by the illustrious Jacob Cronan.
On the way you will do the loop of champions around the Atlanta Motor Speedway, shoot the breeze on the shores of Lake Horton, and then bump along the Bumby Betty Gravel route before heading North back into Atlanta. Oh yeah, did we forget to mention that there is also a donkey! See if he’s out and about at around mile 62ish. (pro tip, bring him a snack)
The official route starts and ends at College Park Marta station where you can either arrive by train or park. For more of a challenge we have a longer route option that starts from Piedmont Park, but passes by Marta stations on the way back if you want to shorten the trip. There is also a metric century version that still hits all the sites starting from Starr's Mill Park where there is parking available.
So pick your route, get out there, find your pace, and finish 2020 strong!
These are difficult routes, if you have never done a century (non-metric) then we do not recommend the longest 2020 Edition route and instead suggest the Metric Century (62 Miles) Version. We also do not recommend you ride these routes solo, but please be mindful of covid precautions when riding with others. We strongly encourage you to have your Bail out method in place should you need it (someone to come pick you up). We all have had bad days and have been there. In all versions, please be aware of your own abilities and limitations. Finish 2020 strong, not in pain. Also, be mindful of your surroundings as many of these roads are well traveled. Be sure to bring snacks to start off with, but there are plenty of stop points along the way to refuel. Finally, don't forget the essentials: tools, pump, co2, tubes, (or sealant and side of bacon if that's your jam), bike computer/phone, external battery.
